Summer Season FAQ’s

Mini & Tier III

What do my summer registration fees include?

* One session per week for U4, U5 & U6  

* U8 & U10 (twice-a-week program) one skills night and one games night

* U12 one game night

* U14/U16 1 1/2 games night

When does the summer season start?
Mini/ Tier III teams begin play the Monday of the long weekend in May.  You can check the web site for the full calendar and teams.

When does the summer season end?

The season runs for 10 weeks mid May till end of July.  

 

How do we know if soccer is cancelled?

* Antigonish Minor Soccer will close the fields if they are considered unsafe. This could be due to wet weather, thunderstorm advisories, or other adverse weather conditions.
* You can check on field closures or cancellations by accessing our website www.antigonishsoccer.com. Also cancellations can be heard on CJFX and the Hawk
* Cancelled sessions will only be rescheduled if the technical director feels it necessary.

 

What do mini soccer players wear in the summer?

* Jerseys are provided by Antigonish Minor Soccer.   The Tim Horton’s and Aliant shirts are to be passed back in at the end of the season.
* Soccer shorts (with no pockets or zippers) and soccer socks.
* Appropriate footwear.  U4, U5 & U6 players can wear sturdy sneakers or soccer cleats.

* U8 and up players must wear soccer cleats for safety reasons.  Soccer shin pads are mandatory and will ensure your child doesn’t get hurt. We recommend shin pads that include ankle protection. The shin pads are worn under soccer socks.

What should we bring to outdoor soccer?
* Unbreakable water bottle
* sunscreen if you’re playing during the day
* pants and jacket or sweatshirt if the weather is cool
* insect repellent, if desired

Are there washroom facilities at the fields?

* The Regional field has a portable toilet on site but just to make sure get your child to use the washroom before coming to soccer.

* Columbus field has a washroom on site.

* The Jr. High School has no washroom facility.

Registration Options:

  • Online payment with VISA or MasterCard. * Note - Online registration is highly encouraged! Begins on April 1st.
  • Attend registration sessions on April 17th or April 24th from 10am – 1pm at Superstore Community

    payment by cash, cheque, or credit card)
  • Download the registration form and mail in your completed form and payment to PO Box 1182, Antigonish, N.S. B2G 2L6 or call Susan at 863-1383 Registration is not complete until payment is received.
  • If you still have jerseys (Tim Horton’s or Aliant) from last year please drop them off at registration or give them to Susan.

 

 Payment:

  • Players MUST be registered 48 hours BEFORE attending tryouts, practices or programs.
  • If you are registering 3 or more children, you are entitled to a 10% family discount.  Please inquire at the office with Susan 863-1383
  • Player acceptance for any program is not considered complete until full payment is received
  • There will be a $20 charge for cheques returned by your financial institution.

* Exceptions may be granted for participants requesting funding through agencies (e.g., KidSport, Jump Start). To discuss payment options, contact the AMSA office at antigonishminorsoccer@hotmail.com  or call Susan at 863-1383

Tier II FAQ”S

How do I find out about competitive teams and coaches?

* As soon as the coaches have been assigned to teams their name and contact information will be put on the web site.  Also coaches will be posting practice times and team rosters as they get chosen.  Look on our web site for further team information as it becomes available.

When does the summer league start?
* Team tryouts and balancing sessions begin in April or early May depending on the age group and level of play.
* Practices begin once teams have been selected.
* All league play begins in early to mid June and go till the end of the summer.  

How do we know if fields are closed?

* AMSA will close the fields if they are considered unsafe. This could be due to wet weather, thunderstorm advisories, or other adverse weather conditions. Fields can also be closed for maintenance.
* You can check on field closures or cancellations by accessing our website www.antigonishsoccer.com.  You can also listen to CJFX or the Hawk for updated cancellations.

For our programs to be successful, we need your help.  Please consider volunteering in any of the following positions.

* Board Members, Various Committee members, Mini and Tier III coaches (training provided)

* Tier II coaches and assistants (training provided)

* Season end tournament helpers at the end of July for U8 and U10 players
